Taylor Swift premieres new song on ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’
A new ‘Taylor’s version’ recording featured during the opening scene of the penultimate episode of Hulu’s dystopian television series.

Could a new ‘Taylor’s version’ album be on the way? A newly recorded version of Look What You Made Me Do, the single taken from Taylor Swift’s sixth studio album Reputation premiered on the latest episode of The Handmaid’s Tale.
The song, the sixth track on side one of the 2017 Grammy-nominated album, was played over the opening scene of season six, episode nine, of The Handmaid’s Tale in which June Osborne (Elisabeth Moss) leads an operation to free the oppressed in Gilead.

“Honored” to debut new Swift song
Moss, who also executive produced the series, told Billboard: “I’ve been wanting to use a Taylor song for many years on the show and we finally found the perfect spot for a track from her, and I’m so glad we waited because there could not be a more perfect song for a more perfect moment. Taylor has been such an inspiration to me personally. As a Swiftie myself, and I think I can speak for [co-star] Yvonne [Strahovski] and our entire cast as well, who are all Swifties, it’s such an honour to be able to use her music in the final episodes of our show.
“I said to my editor, Wendy [Hallam Martin], ‘I really want to find a place for a Taylor track in the last 2 episodes of the show’ and we wanted to find a music queue for the opening of 9, and all the credit goes to Wendy for picking this track for this moment!”
It’s a brand new Taylor’s Version recording, which suggests that Swift could be in the process of re-recording the entire Reputation album - one of the two remaining albums from the Big Machine era that she has yet to rework.
Two ‘Taylor’s versions’ still to be re-recorded
Fans are still waiting for Taylor Swift’s final two “Taylor’s Version” re-recordings: remakes of her self-titled debut and Reputation.
Producer Jack Antonoff gave the biggest hint that Taylor is busy putting together a new studio album, telling Entertainment Weekly: “She’s effortlessly working with a new idea every other second in her brain.”
The tenth and last episode of The Handmaid’s Tale will air on Hulu on Tuesday May 27.
