This Oscar-award winning actress left Hollywood for years because she hated the sound of her own voice
Renée Zellweger (‘Bridget Jones’s Diary’) had a break of just over five years in Hollywood.

Renée Zellweger is considered one of the best actresses of her generation. The Texan became known to the general public with ‘Bridget Jones’s Diary’ (2001), in which she starred alongside Hugh Grant and Colin Firth. Almost 25 years later, Renée Zellweger has premiered the fourth sequel to the film, which hit the big screen in February 2025. In addition, the actress was recognized for her work when she won the Oscar for ‘Judy’ (2019), in which she played Judy Garland (‘The Wizard of Oz’).

Despite all the success, there was a moment in Renée Zellweger’s career when everything seemed to go up in smoke. The actress left Hollywood between 2010 and 2016. In an interview with Vogue, the American explained the reasons for her departure. “Because I needed it. I was fed up with the sound of my own voice,” Zellweger said.

The Low Points of Her Career
Renée Zellweger was absent from Hollywood during those years because of her voice. “I was sick of the sound of my own voice,” she said. “When I was working, I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh, listen to you. Are you sad again, Renée? However, she admits that she is now much better than before, “I got healthy.” During that time she had time to write music, study international law, build a house and rescue a couple of dogs, among other things.
