This year’s Academy Awards opened with a beautiful performance from pop sensation Ariana Grade of ‘Somewhere Over the Rainbow.’ Grande is nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role.
The star was then joined by castmate in Wicked, nominated for Best Picture, Cynthia Erivo, to sing ‘Home.’ Arivo is also up for a major award tonight, Best Actress in a Leading Role.
Together, the duo closed out their performance by singing the beloved Wicked classic, ‘Defying Gravity.’ The musical is nominated for Best Original Score and Best Sound.
Wicked has already taken home one award tonight, Paul Tazewell who secured the prize of Best Costume Design.
