MGM has released the official ‘Challengers’ trailer for Luca Guadagnino’s upcoming sports romantic dramedy. The film stars Zendaya, Josh O’Connor, and Mike Faist and revolves around a love triangle among tennis players. Zendaya plays Tashi, a former tennis prodigy-turned-coach caught in the middle of an intense romantic entanglement.
‘Challengers’ is set to hit theaters on September 15, alongside other highly anticipated films. Watch the trailer below:
In the movie, Tashi teams up with her husband, Art (played by Mike Faist), to participate in the Challengers tennis tournament. However, complications arise when they encounter Patrick (played by Josh O’Connor), Tashi’s former lover and best friend, who happens to be their rival in the tournament.
Director Guadagnino reportedly shared that Zendaya underwent three months of training with professional tennis coach and former player Brad Gilbert. Gilbert also served as a consultant for the film. Guadagnino collaborated with screenwriter Justin Kuritzkes and enlisted Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, known for their work on ‘Bones and All,’ to compose the film’s score.
Amy Pascal, the producer of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ is among the film’s producers, along with Guadagnino and executive producer Bernard Bellew.
