The Academy Award for Best International Feature Film, formerly known as the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, is awarded annually to the most outstanding film of the year which has a predominantly non-English dialogue track. The prize was first awarded in 1956, although an honorary award was earlier presented from 1947 onwards.

What requirements must a film meet to be considered for Best Foreign Film?
In order to qualify for the Best International Feature Film category, potential contenders must meet four requirements.
Five films have been nominated for the award at the 2024 Oscars: Io Capitano (Italy), Perfect Days (Japan), Society of the Snow (Spain), The Teachers’ Lounge (Germany) and The Zone of Interest (United Kingdom).
Although The Zone of Interest is primarily listed as being from the United Kingdom, it was co-produced with Poland, with the dialogue changing between German, Polish and Yiddish. German actress Sandra Hüller has been nominated in the Best Actress category for her performance in the film.
