Update:

An Italian model claims he lost his job at the 2024 Met Gala for overshadowing Kylie Jenner during the previous year’s event.

Eugenio Casnighi revealed on social media app TikTok that he won’t be greeting guests at this year’s gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art after gaining viral attention for his handsome appearance. “I’ve been let go from the Met Gala. Recognize me?”, the 26-year-old said while sharing images with the Kardashians celebrity.

‘They fired me so I can say whatever I want now’

Casnighi alleged he’s not been able to talk about the event as he was under an non-disclosure agreement. “Funny enough, they fired me so I can say whatever I want now,” the model said, “They fired me because I went viral last year. So basically they said, ‘You made it about yourself, so we can’t have you work there anymore. I’m sorry.’”

“Last year, they told me that I was going to be with Jenner, 26, all night”, he continued “and I [helped] her [with] whatever she needed... They literally told me we picked you because we like you more than other people to be with this celebrity but when people took pictures of the actual celebrity … like Kylie Jenner and I was next to her … of course, I ended up in the picture and they blamed me.”

As well as announcing his sacking, Casnighi, who stands at 6 foot 1, explained that there is a possibility that the Met Gala may have decided against having any models work the event this year as he learned a colleague was also given their marching orders.

Casnighi also said that he has both messages and emails that support his statements that he was set to work at this year’s event.
