Ben Affleck and Matt Damon have been working together since the early days of their career, with their big break being in 1997 with their award-winning movie ‘Good Will Hunting’.

Ben Affleck loves working with Matt Damon

Affleck has relished every moment working with the 52-year-old ‘Bourne’ star.

“I love and trust Matt so much,” Affleck told IndieWire, “and it was so lovely to be working together.”

“It was kind of like a feeling of, [how] I want the other actors to feel. Like, ‘Come on, it’s all good, I love actors, I love you, you’re going to be OK, everyone, take as much time as you want, do what you need to do and be respected’, and to kind of project that energy.”

This comes after Affleck previously stated that working with Damon was the best experience of his life.

It was just so much fun,” Affleck recalled. “I don’t know. It kind of felt like just us and getting to do the thing that we wanted to do. I did. I loved it. I loved it.”

“I miss it every day since. It was the best, like, work experience of my life, without question.”

Matt Damon returns the compliment

Damon also believes they make a great team, and that working together comes naturally to them. He added that making ‘Air’ seemed like the next best step to take, and that it didn’t feel weird being directed by his best friend.

“Honestly, it was kind of a natural progression,” Damon said. “We’ve written a bunch of movies and produced and acted together for so many years and decades, so it didn’t feel any different working this way.”

The production of ‘Air’

The pair are producing their latest movie, a sports biography called ‘Air’, which chronicles the rise of Nike’s Air Jordan brand, with their new production company, Artists Equity.

Affleck directed the film, and his buddy Damon stars in it as sports executive Sonny Vaccaro. Affleck also makes an appearance in the movie, in the role of Nike co-founder Phil Knight.

The film is set to be released April 5.
