Why did ‘Golden Bachelor’ stars Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist divorce just three months after wedding?
The couple captured the imagination of millions of romantics out there after their televised marriage, but it was over almost before it started.
Gerry Turner and Theresa Nist tied the knot on 4 January 2024, and just three months after their televised wedding, they have made the decision to divorce. Under the premise of “A hopeless romantic gets a second chance at love by finding someone to share the last years of their life with,” the reality show ‘The Golden Bachelor’ took over our small screens, and, after nine episodes, Theresa Nist emerged as the winner. Ah, marital bliss surely awaited them.
“Living situation” not compatible for ‘Golden’ marriage
In an exclusive interview on Good Morning America, though, Turner revealed the news of their separation.
“Theresa and I have had a number of heart-to-heart conversations, and we’ve looked closely at our situation, our living situation... and we have come to the conclusion, mutually, that it’s probably time for us to dissolve our marriage,” he explained, with the host quick to question the decision.
Despite the separation, Gerry confessed that he is still in love with her: “I have no doubt that I am still in love with her. I support her every day,” he concluded.
“We have received so much love and support from so many people who watched ‘The Golden Bachelor,’ and I don’t think we can say how many people told us it gave them so much hope. We don’t want any of that to change for anyone,” Nist added.
Did the ‘Golden Bachelor’ have a pre-nuptial agreement?
Some cynical fans have commented on this resolution as a sham, a way for the two to become famous and achieve their own personal goals through the show, going through with the wedding but not giving the relationship a real chance to succeed. There was, in case you wondered, a pre-nup in place before the rings were exchanged, and both have said they will continue to look for love with someone else.
