Millie Bobby Brown - Drake - Kendrick Lamar diss explained: Why was the ‘Stranger Things’ star mentioned?
Drake has hit back at Kendrick - but what did he say about his rap rival, and why did young girls creep into it?
The battle continues. Drake and Kendrick are, I think, still going blow for blow. At least if you can still call it that after everyone around the ring has counted to 9 for the guy laid on the floor with the cracked ribs and bloody eye socket.
After a deadly duo of hits from K Dot (’meet the grahams’ & ‘Not Like Us’,) in which he allegedly exposed Drake’s daughter before releasing a club banger that called the Canadian “a coloniser”, Drake responded with ‘The Heart Part 6′, a track with an interesting title.
Why did Drake call his diss track ‘The Heart Part 6′?
While it may appear like the title of Drizzy’s latest release doesn’t go in as hard on Kendrick as much as his previous track, ‘Family Matters’, that is not the case. Drake has, rather brilliantly, taken the name from Kendrick’s periodical release of a single track that he drops before the announcement of a new album.
While a potential album from the Compton rapper wouldn’t be complete without his own ‘The Heart Part 6′, it certainly means that searches on Google will have to come with the artist’s name if you don’t want to be reminded of the beef.
Drake, Kendrick and Millie Bobby Brown
In a world first, Drake actually chose not to draw his sword, but raise his shield and responded to Kendrick with a defence track instead of a diss - and it’s safe to say that the first impressions are not wholly positive. On ‘Not Like Us’, Kendrick repeats themes previously mentioned of Drake’s alleged questionable relationships with underage girls.
The Canadian replied to Kendrick accusations of being a “certified paedophile” with the line “Only f*ckin’ with Whitneys, not Millie Bobby Brown, I’d never look twice at no teenager”. This line in particular stands out as Kendrick never mentioned the Stranger Things actress and it has been known for some time that the two do indeed have a relationship that goes back to when Brown was a teenager, with Drake even apparently giving her relationship advice.
From the outside, it appears a huge blunder from Drake, who also stuck his foot in deeper by rapping that “If I was f*ckin’ young girls, I promise I’d have been arrested / I’m way too famous for this sh*t you just suggested.” True or false, it just looks weird.
To add insult to injury, Drake also included the following:
These lines are in reference to a song written by Kendrick Lamar on his latest album, ‘Mr Morale & The Big Steppers’. In the track entitled ‘Mother, I Sober’, Lamar raps about according to Genius, “his mother’s experience with sexual abuse and her fear that Lamar might experience assault as well”.
“Family ties, they accused my cousin, “Did he touch you, Kendrick?” / Never lied, but no one believed me when I said “He didn’t”, Kendrick said on the track.
Comparing the latter to the former, Drake clearly failed to understand the lyrics in Kendrick’s song, with the words posted above showing a stark misjudgement of what Lamar was trying to say in his heartfelt song that formed part of the album which was a project themed around trauma and grief.
Drake, if you’re as burnt out as you say you are, then it’s OK to throw in the (bloody) towel, mainly because I wouldn’t bet a single dollar that Kendrick isn’t cooking up a response...
