Viewing figures not the 'best' in any category
Despite our own sizeable interest, it's worth noting that the Oscars and other entertainment awards shows have been struggling to attract TV viewers, particularly younger ones who spend time on TikTok and YouTube.
Last year's Academy Awards show, for example, when Will Smith slapped presenter Chris Rock before winning best actor, drew about 15.4 million TV viewers, the second-smallest audience ever.
That said, the aftermath to that slap got plenty attention across all media and social platforms.
Despite the excitement that we have at the nominations being announced, the awards ceremony itself will be hosted by Jimmy Kimmel and will take place at the renamed Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on 13 March 2023.
Oliver brings you all the details on what's ahead, with the hope that there are no on-stage slaps to talk about.
Today's 2023 Academy Awards nominations announcement is due to begin at 8.30 a.m. ET (5.30 a.m. PT), and we'll have a feed for you to keep an eye on proceedings throughout.
