Aid checks of up to $1,500 in May: who will receive them and how to request them

Due to inflation, several states in the US approved the sending of stimulus checks or tax refunds as relief last year. Since then, inflation has fallen; however, financial support continues in certain locations, with payments up to $1,500.

Alaska: Permanent Fund Dividend (PFD)

For the past 41 years, the Alaska government has shared investment income from oil with state residents through the Permanent Fund Dividend program. This year, the payment per applicant is $3,284.

Alaskans should have applied for payment by March 31. The next payment date is May 18.

California

A pilot program, Pathway to Income Equity, will provide a guaranteed income to 305 families in Sonoma County, California. The program will send monthly checks worth $500 for two years. The next payment date is scheduled for May 17.

Georgia

A relief check of $250 for individuals and $500 for couples will be sent to Georgia residents who have filed their income taxes for tax year 2021 and tax year 2022. Those who submitted it before April 18 will receive their payment this month.

Massachusetts

Taxpayers are eligible to receive a refund of approximately 14% of their state tax liability. People who filed their 2021 return before October 17, 2022, and received their refund in December.

However, taxpayers who filed after and until September 15, 2023, will receive the payment one month after filing. If you filed your return in April, you will receive your payment in May.

New Jersey

About 2 million New Jersey households are eligible for property tax refunds, thanks to Affordable New Jersey Communities for Homeowners and Renters.

Homeowners making up to $150,000 will receive $1,500 in property tax refunds, while those making between $150,000 and $250,000 will receive $1,000. Tenants earning up to $150,000 will receive $450 checks. Refunds will arrive this month.

New Mexico

In-state residents can still receive a rebate of $500 for single filers and $1,000 for joint filers. Residents have until this month to file their income tax return and qualify for a refund.
