Long-time news anchor, host, and television personality Barbara Walters has passed away at her home in New York at the age of 93.


After a decades-long career that began in 1962 on the Today Show, broadcast journalist and television personality Barbara Walters has passed away at the age of 93.
She broke the glass ceiling for women by becoming the first female to anchor an evening news program.

Known for her interviews with celebrities, presidents, and other heads of state, Walters had a television career that lasted more than five decades. She was part of the programs The Today Show, 20/20, The ABC Evening News, and The View.

According to Walt Disney CEO Robert Iger, she died at her home in New York. This was confirmed by her representative, Cindi Berger, who said Walters died “peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones,” per NBC News. Details on the exact cause of death have not yet been made available.
