The Italian expert, an internationally recognized leader in the field of well-being sciences, has released his new book ‘As If Everything Were a Miracle’.

Daniel Lumera is a naturalist biologist, writer, and research fellow in the sociology of cultural and communication processes. He is a leading international figure in the fields of well-being science, quality of life, and meditation practice.

Creator of the My Life Design method, he is also the founder of the International Kindness Movement and works to encourage several European cities, including Madrid and Barcelona, to join the Kind Cities program.

The author of several books, all bestsellers in Italy, he now arrives in our country with his latest publication, ‘As If Everything Were a Miracle’, which he describes as “a path to rediscover lightness, happiness, and the ability to feel wonder.”

At a time when “adult human beings are losing the ability to feel the harmony of the present moment, the here and now, living projected into possible scenarios of a hypothetical future,” Lumera shares in his new book a practical and simple exercise designed to test and improve one’s state of mental presence.

The seven alarms

The naturalist biologist calls it “The Seven Alarms” and describes it as “a very simple exercise that I practiced for years.” “It involves setting seven alarms to go off throughout the day. Each time an alarm sounds, I take three slow, deep breaths and activate a principle of awareness in my mind: ‘I am exactly here,’” he explains.

This practice serves several important functions. On one hand, it trains the mind to return to the present moment. On the other, it enhances mental clarity and concentration. It also promotes relaxation and helps manage stress more effectively.

Giving attention to ourselves and to our own presence opens the door to silence and to listening to life. This is the small secret that allows us to use our attention differently. The Seven Alarms technique turned out to be a powerful method of awareness,” the author concludes in As If Everything Were a Miracle.
