Members of the Trump family began giving testimony in the New York civil lawsuit brought by Attorney General Letitia James. The state has accused Donald Trump, his three eldest children and other members of the Trump Organization of fraudulently inflating the value of assets by as much as $2.2 billion.

Judge Arthur Engoron, who is presiding over the case, has already ruled that the state has provided sufficient evidence that the three Trumps still part of the case and company are liable for fraud. He must now determine what the punishment shall be. The AG is seeking a $250 million fine, a ban on Trump Sr, Trump Jr and Eric from doing business in New York and the suspension of the company’s operating licenses.

Does Ivanka Trump have to testify in her father’s fraud trial? When would she have to do it?

Ivanka Trump, who was and executive vice president of the Trump Organization until 2017, was dismissed from the case in June after a New York appeals court ruled that the claims against her were barred by the state’s statute of limitations. However, she has still been called to testify in the case despite her and her lawyers’ protests in the belief that she has personal knowledge of the facts relevant to the case.

Judge Engoron has ordered her to testify on Wednesday 8 November finding that she “clearly availed herself of the privilege of doing business in New York.” She is appealing the ruling to compel her to testify in person claiming that Engoron does not have the jurisdiction to do so and challenging whether the subpoenas were properly issued to her by the New York AG.

Originally scheduled to take the stand this Friday, she will now be the final witness next week, Trump Sr is scheduled to testify on Monday, in AG James’ case before the defense presents their case. However, the appeal could delay her testimony.
