Facebook is down: What we know about the outage and when it will be back up again
Users across North America say they can’t access Facebook or log in, while Instagram and Messenger also appear to be experiencing problems.


Hundreds of thousands of Facebook users across North America have reported issues accessing the platform today, Friday, June 12, with Messenger and Instagram, which are also owned by Meta, appearing to be affected.
The outage appears to have begun at around 9:30 a.m. ET, with users reporting they were unable to sign in to Facebook and were instead shown a “This page is not available” error when attempting to do so.
More than 100,000 reports
According to DownDetector.com, more than 100,000 users have reported problems, while smaller numbers have also experienced issues loading pages on Instagram and using Messenger.
Meta has yet to issue an update explaining the situation, so we’ll have to wait patiently for the issue to be resolved.
