Update:

Joe Biden, the current President of the United States and the Democrat candidate in the upcoming 2024 election, spent the first 10 years of his life living in Scranton, Pennsylvania.

Born in 1942, Biden lived in the city’s Green Ridge neighborhood until his family moved to Delaware when he was a child. Despite leaving Scranton at a young age, Biden has maintained a strong connection to the city throughout his life and political career.

In the context of the 2024 election, Biden’s Scranton roots have become a central part of his campaign narrative. Also present during the 2020 election, Biden has been keen to contrast the imagined “Scranton values” with the “Mar-a-Lago values” of his Republican opponent, former President Donald Trump.

Biden’s campaign has emphasized his empathy for the struggles of middle-class Americans, which he attributes to his experiences in Scranton.
