Update:

You’ve got enough on your plate without parsing recall fine print. Here’s the short version up top: an FDA recall now covers more Sprout Organics baby pouches sold at Walgreens and small retailers. The company widened its action after finding potentially elevated lead in some batches. No illnesses have yet been reported.

What to know about Sprout Organics recall

Sprout Organics expanded last week’s recall to add more lot codes of its Sweet Potato Apple and Spinach 3.5-oz pouch. The first alert was posted September 16 and the expansion landed September 23. In plain English: the net got wider, so more pantry checks are needed. Lead exposure can raise a child’s blood lead level even at low doses, which is why this one matters.

Is this only a Walgreens problem?

Mostly. The company says this pouch wasn’t sold in other big chains beyond Walgreens, but it did reach independent stores and online. If you shop Walgreens, start here. If you use smaller neighborhood grocers, check too.

What baby pouches are included in the FDA recall?

The recall covers Sprout Organics Sweet Potato Apple and Spinach (3.5-oz pouch) with the following markings. Look on the bottom strip on the back of the pouch for the ‘Best By’ date and lot code.

  • Best By Oct 29, 2025 – Lot 4212
  • Best By Oct 30, 2025 – Lot 4213
  • Best By Dec 4, 2025 – Lot 4282
  • Best By Feb 4, 2026 – Lot 4310

If your pouch matches any of the above, do not feed it to your child. Take it back for a full refund.

Where were the recalled pouches sold?

According to reports, the following locations is where you may have picked up one of these products:

  • Walgreens (nationwide presence)
  • Independent retailers in: AZ, CO, FL, ID, IL, IN, IA, MA, ME, MN, MS, MO, MT, NV, NH, NJ, NM, NY, NC, OH, OR, PA, RI, TX, UT, VT, WI, WY
  • Online channels operated by the brand/retailers

It was not sold in other major national chains, per the company.
