Plan ahead: The areas likely to see snow on Thanksgiving
The first weather forecasts are in and these are the regions that could see snow this Thanksgiving.

Thanksgiving is just a little more than two weeks away, and many are beginning to prepare for travel. Those flying or hitting the road may be curious about the weather forecast and the possibility of snow that could disrupt their plans. Though the estimates are subject to change, the National Weather Service has released its first forecasts for Thanksgiving, providing much-needed information to those planning to travel for the holiday.
Luckily, much of the United States, including the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, South, and Midwest, will likely see less precipitation between November 26 and November 30. However, the threat of rain or snow is higher than normal in the West, particularly parts of California, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Oregon, Utah, and Wyoming.
Which areas are likely to see snow or rain?
The likelihood of precipitation is also higher in much of Alaska and Hawaii, according to the maps published by the NWS.

Which areas are expected to see lower temperatures?
While the temperature forecast is not yet available for the country for Thanksgiving, we are getting the first reports of what travel conditions could look like in the days leading up to the major holiday. Down in the Southeast, including Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and the adjoining states, temperatures are likely to be a bit cooler than is typical this time of year. The same is true in much of Alaska as well as Northern Idaho, Montana, and Washington. In much of the rest of the country, temperatures are expected to be consistent with their traditional averages, or higher than those figures in many cases. Particular in the Midwest and Northeast where snow is a real possibility during this time of year, the fact that temperatures are expected to be higher than usual in the days leading up to Thanksgiving, makes it less likely that snow and bad weather will impact travel.

Taking it all together... which areas could see snow on Thanksgiving?
While the temperature forecasts for Thanksgiving will be critical to gaining the full picture of the weather expected, these two maps show that the areas that are more likely to see snow are Alaska, as well as the Northwest: Idaho, Montana, and Washington where temperatures are expected to be cooler and wetter.
