President Joe Biden’s campaign team took advantage of the large media presence outside the courthouse where Donald Trump’s hush money trial is wrapping up, to warn Americans against a second term for the former president.

Actor Robert de Niro and former police officers were among those who slammed Trump and his role in the Jan. 6, 2021 U.S. Capitol insurrection during the press conference of Biden’s team.

What did Robert De Niro say about Donald Trump?

The actor said that a second Trump presidency could spell the end of democracy for the country.

“I don’t mean to scare you,” said De Niro. “No, no, wait, maybe I do mean to scare you. If Trump returns to the White House, you can kiss these freedoms goodbye that we all take for granted.

“Elections, forget about it. That’s over. That’s done. If he gets in, I can tell you right now, he will never leave,” warned the actor.

He also spoke about how the Jan. 6 riot, where Trump supporters attacked the Capitol, showed how damaging Trump’s influence is.

De Niro recently recorded an anti-Trump ad for the Biden campaign, where he also warned voters of the dangers of a second Trump term.

Trump campaign strikes back

Trump’s campaign team responded to the press conference by saying it proved what the ex-president has been saying all along- that the charges against him are politically motivated.

They also claimed that the  Biden team’s press conference showed they were threatened by Trump’s showing in the polls.

“After months of saying politics had nothing to do with this trial, they showed up and made a campaign event out of a trial day for President Trump,” said Trump advisor Jason Miller.

“Why? Because Joe Biden’s numbers are in the tank.”
