Tesla recalls more than 27,000 Cybertrucks for rearview camera issue: List of models and vehicles affected
A recall affecting more than 27,000 Cybertrucks has been issued after failures with the backup camera on some models increased the risk of a collision.
Tesla released the Cybertruck this year. The highly anticipated release has led to disappointment by many who had placed an order as some models have certain defects that make them dangerous.
The company is issuing a recall published by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) affecting over 27,000 vehicles. The recall relates to the backup camera on some of the Cybertrucks where, in some cases, the image seen by the driver is delayed after shifting into reverse. This can lead to accidents as drivers who are relying on the images they are seeing are not actually seeing what is happening in real-time. As such, the NHTSA says these cameras “fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard” on real visibility.
Previously, Tesla issued a voluntary recall on Cybertrucks after some owners had issues with the accelerator pedal dislodging from the pad. This recall affected Cybertrucks manufactured between November 13, 2023, to April 4, 2024.
This recall follows another from the spring
Tesla has voluntarily issued a safety recall on model year 2024 Cybertruck vehicles to replace or rework the accelerator pedal assembly to ensure sufficient retention force between the pad and accelerator pedal to prevent the pad from dislodging. “If the pad on the accelerator pedal becomes trapped in the interior trim above the pedal, the performance and operation of the pedal will be affected, which may increase the risk of a collision,” explained Tesla in the recall.
The company informed those whose vehicle was covered by the recall that reparations would be covered.
