VA benefits

These are the remaining VA disability payment dates and amounts for veterans in 2025

Recipients of disability benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs have three more payments coming this year.

What are the compensation rates for disabled veterans?
Update:

Every month, millions of veterans in the U.S. receive benefits from the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) through a variety of financial support programs.

A large proportion of that money goes to those on disability compensation, which currently supports around six million people. These monthly payments are not taxed and go to support veterans with disabilities - either mental or physical - that relate to their service.

When do VA disability benefits go out?

VA disability checks are issued at the end of the corresponding month or the start of the following month; the exact date varies. The Department of Veterans Affairs has confirmed that payments will not be impacted by the ongoing U.S. government shutdown.

According to Veterans Guide, this is the VA benefits payment schedule for the rest of 2025:

  • October: Friday, October 31
  • November: Monday, December 1
  • December: Wednesday, December 31

How much are VA disability benefits?

For those with a 10% disability rating (the lowest designation), the monthly payment in 2025 is $175.51, regardless of how many dependents are claimed. The rating increases in 10-percentage-point increases up to 100%, with the amount of financial support going up accordingly.

Veterans with a 100% disability rating and no dependents get $3,831.30 per month in 2025. That monthly figure increases with each dependent, which can be a child, a parent or a spouse.

There is also scope for Aid and Attendance benefits to be added in instances where extra support is needed to carry out daily activities or assist with household tasks.
