They introduced the world’s tiniest dog to the tallest one and here’s what happened

Imagine if your dog was so small, that you had to search the room before you got out of bed to make sure you don’t step on your darling pooch. Then think about introducing the little one to a dog whose paw is bigger than your dog.

While the prospect of what could happen might be worrisome, Vanesa Semler wasn’t too concerned as her Pearl, an almost 3.6-inch-tall Chihuahua, “has a big personality.” Nor was Sam Johnson worried about her Reginald, a Great Dane measuring 3 feet, 3 inches, because of his heart of gold.

Respectively, they are the world’s shortest and tallest living dogs according to the Guinness World Records. Peral traveled from Florida to meet up for a play date in early April at Reggie’s house in Idaho. The two hit it off from the get-go despite the three-foot difference in height.

As is par for the course, the first thing the two dogs did was take in each other’s bouquet with some sniffing when they were presented on the living room couch. After becoming “fast friends,” they did some exploring around the house together. Then it was off to the backyard to play around and let off some of their excited energy.

“I was surprised Pearl wasn’t more afraid of Reggie,” commented Sam. “But she was so excited and interested in him, and he was just like ‘whoa, I have no idea what that is!’”

“When Pearl meets bigger dogs, she is really friendly. I think she has no idea she is a small dog. Normally she’s really playful with bigger dogs, she just wants to be around [them],” Vanesa said. “He was absolutely adorable, playful like Pearl,” she said of Reggie.

Both owners commented on how the two, albeit at extremes of size, share so many similarities. Both like to wear clothes; Venesa says that Pearl’s wardrobe is bigger than hers while Reggie “has a bunch of sweaters he wears.”

Reggie and Pearl also have no qualms about letting their owners know what they want. Most of all though, they are both sweethearts and love to give kisses and cuddle, with humans and dogs alike.
