This is how much the price of a McDonald’s meal has changed in the last 10 years

British singer Yazz once sang, ‘The Only Way Up’ and this sentiment could be applied to modern day prices as inflation impacts.

Dining out is now seen as a mini-luxury and this even translates to fast food eateries where in the past decade, menu prices at popular fast food chains have risen between 39% and 100%, according to new data released by FinanceBuzz.com.

Breaking this down to the fast food emporium par excellence, McDonald’s prices have risen but certain products have seen only minimum increments. For example, a medium drink still provides solid value for money, only rising 25% in the past 10 years, from $1.29 to $1.61 and this contrasts with a medium-sized order of fries now costs $3.79, compared to the $1.59 price in 2014, a 138% increase.

The iconic Big Mac hasn’t experienced quite such a high price jump. The snack cost $3.99 in 2014 and now costs $5.99.

The kid’s favourite, the Happy Meal can be widely bought these days for $4.00 and the same box featuring a hamburger/ 4-piece Chicken McNuggets, child-size fries, apple slices, a drink and a toy, costs $4.99 compared to the 2014 price of $2.99.

It appears that the prices of meal-deals that have skyrocketed, with $11.99 getting you a Quarter Pounder with Cheese Meal or $10.99 for a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets meal. These items increased by 122% and 83%, respectively compared to their 2014 figure.
