This is the oldest man in the world, his name is Marcelino and the registry recognizes him

According to Peru’s official records, Marcelino Abad Tolentino, known as Mashico, is now recognized as the oldest living man in the world, having turned 125 years old this past Sunday, as confirmed by the country’s official registry, the government program Pensión 65.

The elderly Abad was born in the year 1900 in the community of Cochachinche, located in the central department of Huánuco. This information was accompanied by photos of his national ID card, which confirms his birth date.

“Always with an innocent smile and an unbreakable spirit, the oldest man blows out 125 candles surrounded by the people who love, care for, and value him at the Mis Abuelitos nursing home,” in the peaceful Huánuco region where he lives.

How does someone reach 125 years of age in good health? Abad claims that his stable health is due to his diet, which has always been based on fruits and vegetables he harvested himself from a young age. No additives, no preservatives, just fresh, seasonal, natural foods.

The first public information about “Mashico” emerged in 2021, during the height of the pandemic, when he was vaccinated at his home in a small Andean village, according to Peru’s Ministry of Health. To reach his home, the team of doctors and nurses had to walk up to three hours through mountainous and rugged rural terrain.

In April 2024, the Ministry of Development and Social Inclusion (Midis) announced that it was working on submitting Abad’s case to Guinness World Records to have him officially recognized as the oldest living person in the world.
