This weekend, the White House is hosting a parade celebrating the 250th anniversary of the US Army, which also happens to coincide with President Donald Trump’s 79th birthday. Founded as the Continental Army on June 14, 1775, the US Army will turn 250 years old this year.
The establishment of the fighting force came one year before the signing of the Declaration of Independence, falling on the much more familiar date of July 4, 1776.

Will Donald Trump speak?
Yes. The 250.org website, a private organization promoting the event, announced in late May that President Trump would deliver remarks, although the exact time has yet to be confirmed.
White House warns potential protestors
The celebration occurs amid escalating tensions in the Middle East, following an attack on Iran by Israel. The US claims it received notice of the attack but denies involvement.
Meanwhile, domestic protests are mounting against the Trump administration’s Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) raids, as well as his decision to federalize the National Guard and deploy Marines to Los Angeles—actions taken despite opposition from the city’s police commissioner, mayor, and Governor Gavin Newsom.
The ‘No Kings’ protests are scheduled to coincide with the military parade, but so far, none have been registered in the capital. Nevertheless, protests are still expected to materialize. Earlier this week, the president warned that protestors at the event would be severely punished with “very heavy force.”
