Donald Trump has been naming people he wants to staff his new administration after he’s inaugurated on January 20, 2025. There have been some surprises so far, but he has followed through with others that he proposed during his 2024 campaign for the White House.
One of those was Elon Musk, who has been tapped to head up a new government efficiency commission to cut wasteful federal spending. The new “department” has been dubbed the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, after the cryptocoin of the same name the tech billionaire has often hyped. He will be joined in the task by near-billionaire Vivek Ramaswamy, who unsuccessfully ran in the 2024 GOP primaries but is a staunch trump supporter, as the co-chair.
On Thursday DOGE put out a call for people to come work for the new “department” and send in their resumes. Here’s a look at what they are kind of candidates they are seeking.

“Working overtime to ensure your tax dollars will be spent wisely!” was the first post on X for the new department DOGE dreamed up by Musk who sold Trump on the idea. The tech billionaire has said that this new government commission will be able to cut $2 trillion in government spending, more than all of the discretionary spending Congress has authorized.
In order to do that, the two co-chairs of DOGE are looking for “super high-IQ small-government revolutionaries.” And they don’t want people that will only be half-hearted about the task saying, “we don’t need more part-time idea generators.”
Those that do get a job with DOGE will be expected to “work 80+ hours per week on unglamorous cost-cutting,” said the message calling for candidates posted on X. But perhaps the pay will be worth it? Think again. “This will be tedious work, make lots of enemies & compensation is zero,” Musk said. “What a great deal!”
But if you are still interested in working for DOGE, you are advised to DM the @DOGE X, formerly Twitter, account with your CV. The two co-chairs “will review the top 1% of applicants.”
“Even a brief stint in government by people with high competence and integrity would greatly help America,” Musk wrote on his social media platform.
