“We must all pray for Charlie Kirk”: Donald Trump’s first reaction after the shooting in Utah
Charlie Kirk, founder of conservative youth activist organization Turning Point USA, was shot at an event in Utah. President Trump has called for support.


Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, was shot Wednesday while speaking at Utah Valley University. A single shot was fired on campus shortly after noon, hitting Kirk before his security team escorted him away. A suspect is in custody, but no immediate update on Kirk’s condition has been provided.

Donald Trump responds to shooting of Charlie Kirk
President Donald Trump has responded after the shooting. He joins Vice President JD Vance, Utah Governor Spencer Cox, and Senator Mike Lee in asking for prayers and condemning the violent act.
Trump posted on Truth Social: “We must all pray for Charlie Kirk, who has been shot. A great guy from top to bottom. GOD BLESS HIM!”
Former Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris also condemned the violence, writing on social media: “I am deeply disturbed by the shooting in Utah. Doug and I send our prayers to Charlie Kirk and his family. Let me be clear: Political violence has no place in America. I condemn this act, and we all must work together to ensure this does not lead to more violence.”
The FBI, ATF, and local law enforcement are investigating the incident. Kirk’s appearance was part of Turning Point USA’s American Comeback Tour, which has multiple college stops scheduled. Some students had petitioned to block his visit ahead of the event.
