Oscars 2023, live: Red carpet and Academy Awards ceremony, live

This March 12 the 95th Oscar Awards will be held at the Dolby Theater in the Hollywood District in Los Angeles, California, with Jimmy Kimmel returning to the Academy Awards stage to present the gala.

Coincidentally, this Sunday also sees the change of the clocks in the U.S., with the start of Daylight Saving Time. Twice a year, most Americans have to change the time on their watches, specifically in March and November.

Every year, Daylight Saving Time in the United States begins on the second Sunday in March and this year it was March 12 at 2:00 a.m, with DST then ending on November 5. Every time the clocks are changed to implement daylight saving time, it is necessary to move your clocks forward one hour with respect to standard time (remember Spring Forward, Fall Back), but how does this affect the time to see the Oscars?

What time do the 2023 Oscars start? EST, CST, MST and PST times with time change

Regardless of the time change to Daylight Saving Time, the 2023 Oscars already have a set start time, which does not change with the alteration to the clocks. What in effect IS changing is the time your body thinks it is.

Here are the times the Oscars ceremony gets underway in the different time zones of the United States:

  • Pacific Time (PST): 5:00 p.m. (what was 4:00 p.m. yesterday)
  • Mountain Time (MST): 6:00 p.m. (what was 5:00 p.m. yesterday)
  • Central Time (CST): 7:00 p.m. (what was 6:00 p.m. yesterday)
  • Eastern Time (EST): 8:00 p.m. (what was 7:00 p.m. yesterday)

The event is scheduled to last approximately 3 hours, ending at 8:00 p.m. PT / 9:00 p.m. MT / 10:00 p.m. m. CT / 11:00 p.m. m. ET
