What will be the best places to see the meteor shower in August in the US?
The Perseid meteor shower will peak tonight in North America and we’ll take a look at how, when and where to get a glimse.

This month, the warmer weather will provide excellent opportunities for those who love to view the night sky to view unique celestial shows. Later this month, the Perseid meteor shower will occur and will be visible to many in the United States. According to NASA, meteors are formed from pieces of broken asteroids and comet particles. Here’s what you need to know.
When will the shower take place?
According to the American Metrological Society, the best views will be available on Sunday, August 11 heading into the morning of Monday, August 12. Once it gets dark, those hoping to catch a glimpse should set up in an area with as little light pollution as possible. The organization says the best views occur between 3:00 and 5:00 a.m., but you may be able to see part of the shower before then.

The Perseid meteor shower peaks this month! Provided you have clear skies, viewing conditions will be favorable this year. The Perseids are best viewed in the Northern Hemisphere during the pre-dawn hours. Learn more: https://t.co/KZ2v6dBuQd pic.twitter.com/chrFpK5EhQ
A meteor shower is unlike an eclipse, where the path of totality brings complete darkness to areas, often in the middle of the day. Instead, most people in the continental United States will be able to see the celestial.
Make sure to bring a blanket if you live in an area where the temperature drops after dark, and happy viewing!
