Update:

A Delta Air Lines aircraft has crashed at Toronto Pearson Airport in Canada, flipping upside down on its arrival from Minneapolis on Monday afternoon.

How many people were injured in the Delta-Toronto crash? Was anyone killed?

All 80 people on board the Bombardier CRJ-900 were safely evacuated, the U.S.‘s Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed. Initial reports suggested eight people were being seen by paramedics, a figure which was revised to 15 a short time later.

Three people are being treated for critical injuries, although none are thought to be life-threatening. Although few details are known about the individuals in question, we do know they are a man in his 60s, a woman in her 40s, both of whom are now in hospital, and a child, who has been transported to Toronto’s Hospital for Sick Children.

The cause of the crash, which occurred after the plane in the tarmac, has yet to be established. However, Toronto has been hit by very heavy snow in recent days, with the City of Toronto reporting up to 23 centimeters of snow fell in the city over the weekend. Additionally, temperatures on Monday were expected to reach a maximum of only 20 degrees Fahrenheit.

Passengers record crash aftermath

Some astonishing clips from passengers have done the rounds online, including from one shellshocked woman who recorded herself on the tarmac moments after being evacuated: “I was just in a plane crash…oh my God”.
