Ubisoft

Assassin’s Creed Red to feature more gore and Splinter Cell stealth

A new leak from Insider Gaming (Tom Henderson) also reveals graphical improvements, although this will not be a change of engine, but an evolution.

Assassin's Creed Codename Red

In Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Ubisoft has captured the brutality of Viking combat. Eivor severed heads and executed his enemies without a second thought. However, Insider Gaming has gained access to footage from the next game in the franchise, codenamed Assassin’s Creed Codename Red. According to their sources, the battles in the feudal Japan-set installment will be similar to those in Valhalla, but with a lot more gore: blood and beheadings are guaranteed.

Another innovation has to do with stealth, which has been compared to that of Splinter Cell. The player can put out torches, hide in tall grass or behind bushes. You can also hang upside down at any time. Insider Gaming had the opportunity to see the new version of the settlement, this time called the Hideout. This is the place where you will be able to build the various shops and buildings that are customizable. Unlike the Vikings game, you can choose the location and design of the roofs and interiors. On the other hand, the player will be able to place weapons and armor at his free disposal.

Not a new engine, but with improvements

The Assassin’s Creed saga will continue to use the same graphics engine, but Ubisoft is using an advanced version, Anvil Pipeline. Sources consulted by Insider Gaming have explained that all the studios are using this technology in a unified way, which will allow them to take a step forward in the audiovisual field: it will benefit from improvements in lighting, ray tracing and geometry.

Assassin’s Creed Codename Red will be the first game in the saga to be part of Assassin’s Creed Infinity, the new interface that will bring together all of the brand’s upcoming games. The title is expected to be officially announced in the coming months, and although no release date has been confirmed, everything seems to indicate that it will be released in 2024.
