First Nintendo Switch 2s hit eBay with exorbitant prices, but fans are fighting back

While Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders are already active in Europe and Asia, they are still on hold in the United States and Canada. Faced with this wait after the Trump administration’s constant tariff changes, one might consider securing their console through an outside buyer.

Some resellers, seeing the opportunity, are already doing their thing on eBay. Some sellers have already posted listings of the next Nintendo console with high prices, reaching up to $855 dollars, more than 80% of the cost that the console will have. Faced with this, users have sprung into action and organized to confront the scalpers.

Users strike back at Switch 2 scalpers

Through Reddit, users have agreed to report scalpers on eBay. Some have bragged that they have been able to remove between 15 and 20 scalpers per day, cleaning up the site from users trying to take advantage of the situation.

But why are resellers being removed so easily now? eBay has changed its policy on pre-sale items to make them comply with a very simple requirement. “Pre-sale listings must clearly state that they are ‘pre-sale’ in the title and description and guarantee shipping within 40 business days of purchase.” This has created a loophole that allows users to report these resales. However, as Reddit user formerlyDylan rightly points out, “June 5th is 42 business days from now, so I think in 2 days eBay’s own stupid policy will give the okay to Switch 2 scalpers.

How much the Nintendo Switch 2 will cost

One of the most striking aspects of the Nintendo Switch 2 has been its price. With a cost of $455 in its base edition and $499 with Mario Kart World, it is positioned as one of the most expensive consoles in the history of the brand (taking into account inflation).
