Metal Gear Solid Master Collection will also include Metal Gear 1 & 2

The two classic Metal Gear games from the late 80s will also be part of this compilation.

Metal Gear Master Collection

This Fall is the ideal date to discover (or remember) the entire Metal Gear Solid saga, thanks to the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection to be released by Konami, which includes Metal Gear Solid, Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty, and Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater... but with more games. And indeed, we will be able to enjoy in the same compilation of Metal Gear (1987) and Snake’s Revenge Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake (1990), the first two installments that represent the true origin of the franchise before Hideo Kojima completely revolutionized it.

This is clear from the game’s page on the PS Store, which details the games included, and reveals that these two classics are included alongside the three games from the Japanese genius’ original trilogy. In short, there are no less than five games in a compilation that is pure industry history:

  • Metal Gear
  • Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake
  • Metal Gear Solid (Including VR Missions/Special Missions)
  • Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty (HD Collection version)
  • Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater (HD Collection version)

“This collection includes the classic versions of the games, complete with minimal edits to copyrighted contents,” which implies that the two classic games will arrive, as expected, without any technical enhancements or changes.

Metal Gear Solid 3 remake is on the way

But the big announcement at the latest PlayStation Showcase was undoubtedly the remake of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, renamed as Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater. Many consider this the best game in the saga, and chronologically from a plot point of view, the one that would be placed in the first place. It still has no date, but we know it will come to PS5, Xbox Series, and PC.
