‘Star Wars’ is getting more anime, arriving in 2026 as a continuation of ‘The Ninth Jedi’
The third season of ‘Star Wars Visions’ premieres in October, featuring the short film ‘Child of Hope.’

In the first season of ’Visions’, the Star Wars animated anthology series, Kenji Kamiyama directed ’The Ninth Jedi’, a story centered on Kara and Juno. This tale will continue in the upcoming third season of the series.
Alongside the episode ’Child of Hope’, which premieres on October 29, 2025, on Disney+, ’The Ninth Jedi’ will expand even further. During Star Wars Celebration Japan, Lucasfilm announced the anime series ‘Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi’, set to debut in 2026.
Kenji Kamiyama returns to oversee the production
“I created a short story called ’The Ninth Jedi’ in Volume 1,” Kamiyama recalled. “Director Naoyoshi Shiotani is making an additional film, Child of Hope,” which concludes with Kara setting off to find her father.
In the original short, lightsabers change color based on the wielder’s connection to the Force. Kara’s father invented this unique type of lightsaber and was kidnapped because of it. “Why did these lightsabers exist? I believe it’s a story whose secrets will be revealed,” Kamiyama added.
Kamiyama, known for directing ’Ghost in the Shell’ and ’The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim’, has confirmed that he will supervise the production of the new anime series.
‘Ahsoka’ begins filming for Season 2
Filming for ’Star Wars: Ahsoka’ Season 2 begins this week, with Hayden Christensen confirmed to reprise his role as Anakin Skywalker.
The late Ray Stevenson, who portrayed Baylan Skoll, will be replaced by Roy McCann in the new episodes—a difficult decision given the circumstances. However, Baylan’s story arc remains unfinished and will play a significant role in the second season.
