The price of GTA 6 remains a mystery, but Take-Two promises to deliver value

Take-Two’s CEO Strauss Zelnick addresses the ongoing debate over game costs.

Update:

We can’t deny that the upcoming release of Grand Theft Auto 6 is one of the most anticipated of the decade. There has been a lot of speculation about what we will see in this new version of Vice City, from the size of its map to its protagonists and so on. Its trailers have been witness to how anticipated this installment is, with its first trailer generating 93 million views in 24 hours and the second reaching 475 million in 24 hours.

However, one of the most important issues is price in an economy where the value of our money has more and more weight, an industry that begins to launch games with a value of $80, when only 5 years ago we started with prices of $70. And rumors have emerged that the next installment of Rockstar Games could cost $100. In response to this, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick has spoken about it.

GTA 6 pricing will deliver value

In a recent interview with Variety, and following the company’s most recent financial report, the CEO of the company that owns Rockstar Games has acknowledged the industry’s common practice of launching games with a “premium price, sometimes with special editions,” followed by price reductions over time to expand the market.

“Our goal always is to deliver more value than what we charge, so we’ve had variable pricing at the company forever,” the executive told Variety. “As you know, the approach of the industry is to launch at a premium price, sometimes with special editions, and over time, typically to reduce the price to enhance the overall size of the market. We do the very same thing. I think, probably more than most, we’re highly focused on making sure that the experience is great, not just because the game itself is great, but also because consumers have paid a fair price for it.”

As for when we will finally know the price of the game, Zelnick played coy and only mentioned, “So now that announcement will come from Rockstar in due time.

For now, GTA 6 is scheduled to release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X on May 26, 2026.
