Billie Eilish wears Jake Peavy jersey during SNL appearance, but why did she?
As famous as the former White Sox star may be, it’s not every day that a pop superstar wears one of your jerseys during a public appearance.
While there has been no official word on exactly why the “Lovely” singer chose to wear the jersey of the legendary pitcher during her recent appearance on “Saturday Night Live” but that’s exactly what she did and it’s got folks talking.

It was during the end-of-show goodbyes on the most recent episode of “Saturday Night Live” that guest and pop sensation, Billie Eilish was seen wearing a Jake Peavy jersey. Needless to say, it came as somewhat of a shock to the 2007 Cy Young Award winner, but he was quick to show his appreciation for the gesture. “I’m gonna reach out, I come in peace,” Peavy said. “I wanna sign a jersey for her.” Of course, the 42-year-old also conceded that Elish’s move resulted in his phone being bombarded with calls and messages once the episode came to an end, something the two-time World Series winner was not expecting at all.

“My phone started going crazy when it aired on the East Coast and that went on into the night,” Peavy said. “I don’t know the last time something got that much traction in my phone with text messages.” Peavy also went on to disclose that his 15-year-old son, Judd, was more than impressed with the coming together of basball and pop in Elish’s nod to his father. “[Eilish] gave me huge street cred in my household and throughout the next generation,” he said. “Us in the MLB world are appreciative of what she does.”
So, is Billie Eilish a White Sox fan?
While Peavy played for several teams in MLB including the San Diego Padres and San Francisco Giants, it was undoubtedly the five seasons that he spent with the Chicago White Sox where he became a household name. Indeed, it was in his final year (2013) in the ‘Windy City’ that he won the first of two back-to-back World Series titles - the second came in 2014 after moving to the Boston Red Sox. This is all to say, that as well-known as Peavy is, we don’t actually know if Elish is a fan. On the other hand, we do know that she has a habit of wearing sports jerseys during concerts and events. Was it just a random choice? Whatever the case, she probably just secured a herself a famous fan, while making his son extra happy as well. Not bad for simply wearing a jersey.
