Dave’s a Dodger: a look at Roberts' record-breaking contract
The Los Angeles franchise and the manager have agreed to a contract extension prior to the start of the 2025 MLB season.

Dave Roberts is set to become the highest-paid manager in Major League Baseball history once his contract extension with the Los Angeles Dodgers is finalized.
The two sides have reportedly agreed to a four-year, $32.4 million deal, surpassing Craig Counsell’s contract with the Chicago Cubs and making Roberts the highest-paid manager in the league.
The Dodgers plan to announce the new agreement with Roberts before their trip to Tokyo, Japan, for the season-opening series against the Cubs.
Once the news is confirmed, Roberts can focus on preparing the team for the upcoming season and pursuing back-to-back World Series titles. His new contract will run through 2029, with an average annual salary of $8.1 million.
Dave Roberts discusses the new deal
“I can’t say too much about it, but I think there’s finally closure. I’m excited. Obviously, this is the place I want to be. I’ll definitely talk more about it, but hopefully, there’ll be an announcement soon,” Roberts said Monday after the Dodgers’ 6-2 win over the Diamondbacks at Camelback Ranch.

“I try to make sure my focus stays on the players, the game, and the Dodgers organization. I think I’ve done a good job with that, but handling the other part is also part of the job. I’m definitely looking forward to having it all wrapped up,” the Dodgers manager concluded.
