Juan Soto reaches another major MLB milestone - can anyone catch him?
The Dominican hit a Spencer Strider slider to right field, recording his 1,000th MLB hit.

Juan Soto remains the most prominent Latin American player in Major League Baseball and is hoping to rediscover his top form during the remainder of the 2025 season. The New York Mets outfielder reminded everyone why he holds that status by recording his 1,000th career hit in a game against the Atlanta Braves.
In the first inning, the Dominican slugger battled Spencer Strider by fending off several pitches with foul balls before connecting on a slider, driving a line drive to right field. It took “La Fiera” just seven and a half seasons in the Majors to reach the 1,000-hit milestone.

Soto continues to put his name among the greats
Soto became the 64th Dominican-born player to reach 1,000 hits in MLB history, and it looks like he’s poised to continue climbing the all-time rankings this season. The next players ahead of him on the list are Frank Taveras (1,029), Pedro Feliz (1,065), Dámaso García (1,108), and Deivi Cruz (1,109).
Meanwhile, the next Dominicans closing in on the milestone are Jorge Polanco of the Seattle Mariners (990) and Teoscar Hernández of the Los Angeles Dodgers (998).
Born in Santo Domingo, Soto is currently having his toughest season since 2022—the year he was traded from the Washington Nationals to the San Diego Padres. That season, he posted a .242 batting average with 127 hits in 524 at-bats. Now, with less than a month remaining before the All-Star break, he’s hitting .251 with 66 hits in 263 at-bats.
