New York Yankees lose their first player to MLB free agency for the 2024 season
Dominican pitcher Domingo Germán will be in Major League Baseball Free Agency after not exerting the option to remain with the New York Yankees.

Domingo Germán, the Dominican right-handed pitcher, will become a free agent as the New York Yankees did not offer him a direct contract.
After refusing to go to Triple-A following his removal from the 40-player roster, the player will now seek a new team in the MLB.
During this season, Domingo Germán pitched a perfect game in Oakland on June 28, making it the 24th perfect game in the history of Major League Baseball.
He finished the season with a 5-7 record, a 4.56 ERA in 19 starts and one relief appearance, and 114 strikeouts in 108.2 innings pitched.
He voluntarily entered the restricted list in early August to seek treatment for alcohol abuse.
