The inning that changed everything for the New York Mets in Philly
Juan Soto hit two home runs and drove in four runs to beat the Phillies and end the Mets’ losing streak at seven.

The New York Mets (46–31) ended a seven-game losing streak thanks to a heroic performance from Juan Soto against the Philadelphia Phillies (46–31). The Dominican slugger hit two home runs and drove in four runs to lead New York to an 11–4 win at Citizens Bank Park.

Brandon Nimmo got the Mets going early with a solo homer in the first, but the Phillies responded with RBI hits from Nick Castellanos and Max Kepler. Things took a turn for the worse when Griffin Canning threw a wild pitch, allowing Otto Kemp to come home with Philadelphia’s third run.
The third inning proved explosive for the Mets, as Francisco Lindor, Nimmo and Soto hit back-to-back-to-back home runs to flip the scoreboard. Lindor launched one to center, Nimmo followed with a shot to right, and Soto blasted his over the right-field wall at Citizens Bank Park. Remarkably, each of those home runs marked the 15th of the season for each player.

Soto came back to the plate in the fifth and delivered again. Facing reliever Joe Ross, the slugger battled through a full count by fouling off pitches before connecting on a high curveball and launching it 437 feet from home.
The Phillies narrowed the gap on an RBI knock by Alec Bohm in the bottom of the fifth, but the Mets padded their lead in the sixth with a two-run double from Lindor. The power show wasn’t over – Jared Young led off the eighth with a solo home run, and Soto added two more RBIs later that inning with a clutch two-out single with the bases loaded. Francisco Álvarez capped things off with another homer in the ninth.

The Mets bullpen held firm to seal the win
Huascar Brazobán took over for Canning and kept the Phillies scoreless through the sixth and seventh. Ryne Stanek handled the eighth, and Chris Devenski closed it out in the ninth with the help of some solid defense behind him.
