Who is throwing the ceremonial first pitch for game 2 of the MLB World Series?
Here’s what we know about the ceremonial first pitch for game 2 of the MLB World Series at the Rodgers Centre in Toronto.

For the first time in over 30 years, World Series baseball is back in Toronto. The Blue Jays toasted the occasion by taking Game 1 against the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-11 in front of an ecstatic home crowd.
Another sell-out is expected for Game 2 - with tickets fetching crazy prices after going on sale last week.
Who is throwing the first ceremonial pitch at the World Series?
The Blue Jays invited Cito Gaston to throw out the ceremonial first pitch in Game 1 and legendary first baseman Joe Carter will perform the honor in Game 2.

“The Dodgers are good, but the Blue Jays have that championship pedigree”
Carter, a legendary figure in the franchise’s back-to-back World Series titles in 1992 and 1993, spoke about his upcoming duties as one of the first pitch throwers for the 2025 World Series, telling USA Today that “they’ve saved me for the last 32 years, I’m due.”
While the Dodgers are looking for back-to-back titles of their own, Carter is not underestimating the power of history: “The Dodgers are good, but the Blue Jays have that championship pedigree. It showed in their DNA when they lost the first two games at home, then went to Seattle where they had to win, and come back home where they had to win. I’m telling you, we can do it. The city of Toronto is going to be rocking. All of Canada is going to be so pumped up. And, I’m so pumped up.”
2025 MLB World Series schedule:
- Game 1: Dodgers 4-11 Blue Jays
- Game 2: Saturday, Oct. 25, 8 p.m. ET (at Blue Jays)
- Game 3: Monday, Oct. 27, 8 p.m. ET (at Dodgers)
- Game 4: Tuesday, Oct. 28, 8 p.m. ET (at Dodgers)
- Game 5: Wednesday, Oct. 29, 8 p.m. ET* (at Dodgers)
- Game 6: Friday, Oct. 31, 8 p.m. ET* (at Blue Jays)
- Game 7: Saturday, Nov. 1, 8 p.m. ET* (at Blue Jays)
*If necessary
The series schedule reflects this advantage. The first two games will be held in Toronto on October 24 and 25, giving the Blue Jays the chance to start strong in front of their home crowd; games 3 through 5 will shift to Los Angeles. Should the series stretch to six or seven games, the final matches will return to Toronto.
