Will Juan Soto play the 2026 World Baseball Classic?
The New York Mets superstar has made a decision to whether he will represent the Dominican Republic in the 2026 World Baseball Classic.

With a year to go until the 2026 World Baseball Classic, many players have already confirmed their participation for their respective national teams. The latest to do so is Dominican superstar Juan Soto, who has declared his commitment to representing the Caribbean powerhouse.
Soto to suit up with the national team
“I think everything is going well so far. The Federation and Albert [Pujols], the manager, have reached out to me. We have high expectations, and I feel great. If I’m healthy, I’ll be there 100 percent,” Soto said during a press conference in New York.
Juan Soto was officially introduced as an ambassador for Banreservas this Wednesday, marking a partnership aimed at leveraging his influence to support social and educational programs for young athletes and professional sports figures.
The New York Mets superstar, who was among the nominees for American League MVP last season, previously represented the Dominican Republic in the 2023 World Baseball Classic. He finished the tournament with two home runs, three RBIs, and six hits.

Soto to return home to play 10 games with Licey?
Soto has hinted that he may soon play in the Dominican Winter League with the Tigres del Licey. While he didn’t confirm any specifics, he acknowledged that he hopes to be there in the near future.
Recent reports indicate that Soto, who has never played professionally in his home country, has received permission from the New York Mets to participate in 10 games with Licey, though the exact timing remains undecided.
Soto remains noncommittal about when he might suit up in the Dominican Winter League, but he made it clear that playing in LIDOM is on his radar. “I can’t confirm whether it will be this year or next, but yes, I’ll try to make it over there soon, God willing,” he said.
