Update:

The Boston Celtics fans will be cheering at the news their star player, Jayson Tatum, is no longer a feature on the injury list submitted to the NBA.

Tatum had been a fixture on the list of players suffering physical issues in the Boston camp, with a ’right distal radius bone bruise’ (wrist) suffered in Game 1 plaguing him.

Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla had previously worried fans after telling Boston radio that Tatum’s issue was “a severe bone bruise,” and that the 27-year-old was “day to day” as far as progress reporting goes.

Tatum: ‘We just got stagnant’

As for Tatum himself, he admitted after his return in Game 3 - a 95-93 loss to the Magic - that he was “just dealing with the pain tolerance, and the treatment has been progressing every day, and I just felt like I needed to go out there and play.” In that game, Tatum featured for 39 minutes, finishing with nine rebounds and seven turnovers.

As for the game itself, the Celtics collapsed in the third quarter, shooting 3 for 17 with six turnovers: “We just got stagnant. We’ve just got to play with more pace, more energy,” Tatum remarked in the aftermath.

“I just think today in that third quarter, we weren’t getting stops. It’s kind of tough to play against a set defence every single time, or the majority of the quarter. Give them credit. They play hard, they have some defenders, but I think we had to get some stops first and get get in transition and get our pace up. I think we will next game.”

The Boston Celtics are, despite the good news with Tatum, still facing significant injury challenges ahead of Game 4. Veteran guard Jrue Holiday has been ruled out due to a right hamstring strain, marking his second consecutive missed game, while star forward Jaylen Brown is listed as questionable with a right knee posterior impingement.
