Is Steph Curry any good at golf? His hole-in-one at the American Century Championship says ‘yes’
While he’s known to be decent on the course, what the Warriors star did during the second round of play on Saturday was definitely something special.
From his spectacular shot to his unbridled celebration, the Warriors star couldn’t hide his excitement about the feat he managed to complete during the second-round play of the American Century Championship.
Warriors’ Steph Curry sinks hole-in-one
If you didn’t know, Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry is a decent golfer. Indeed, Curry reaffirmed that point on Saturday during round 2 of the American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament, after already having climbed to the top of the leaderboard during round 1. How did he punctuate the point? With a hole-in-one on the seventh hole of the course at Edgewood Resort in Lake Tahoe. From 152 yards out, Curry posted the first-ever hole-in-one at the seventh hole of the ACC Championship. Yet, perhaps what was even better to witness was his celebration after making the shot. The NBA’s three-point king raced down to the green in clear shock as fans went wild. See for yourself:
OK, Steph Curry is a sharpshooter but still...
Now, we all know that Steph Curry is probably the greatest shooter that the NBA has ever seen, and quite frankly is likely to remain so for some time. On the other hand, we can all agree that nailing a three-pointer - difficult though it may be - is not in the same class as sinking a hole-in-one. To be fair, that’s something that the man himself acknowledged without hesitation. “154 yards is a little longer than 94 feet on a basketball court,” Curry said. “I am going to be out of breath for the rest of the day, but for good reason.” As for where things stand in the tournament, the American Century Championship uses a modified Stableford format, meaning Curry’s hole-in-one earned him eight points, which in turn puts him 10 points ahead of the rest with the remainder of the second round to play.
