Kevin Durant expresses his opinion about the Doncic trade and sends clear message to the NBA: “It’s insane””
Luka Doncic’s blockbuster trade to the Lakers has left no on indifferent - including the Phoenix Suns forward.

The bombshell news dropped late on Saturday night, leaving NBA fans in a state of shock. Dallas Mavericks will trade Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers with Anthony Davis and with Max Christie heading in the opposite direction in what has been labeled the biggest trade in NBA history. Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris will join the Slovenian in Los Angeles.
Doncic joined the Mavs from Real Madrid in 2018. In 2022, he signed a five-year deal worth $215 million with the option of an extra year. This summer, the 25-year-old would have been eligible to negotiate a lucrative supermax contract - a five-year extension which would have seen him earn $345 million.
Doncic was in line to see his salary rise to $46 million next season in Dallas. It is reported that he will earn $43 million in his first season in Los Angeles.
The news has rocked the NBA with coaches and players giving their opinion. The latest was Kevin Durant, who said that while there are always surprises around the trade deadline, he has never seen anything on this scale.

When asked whether he thinks other teams will follow suit with key moves before the trade deadline on February 6, he replied: “For sure. You start seeing stuff like that, as an organization, you might get a little more courage to do some stuff. You see another team trade away somebody like that.
“It’s a transactional game, there a lot of money involved, a lot of business involved. So we shouldn’t be too shocked about trades - players moving to different teams, coaches moving to different teams... It’s just the nature playing basketball and us making this much money. It’s pretty wild times - especially around trade deadline. Everybody will be watching their iPhone. following the updates.
“This got to be the biggest trade I’ve seen since I’ve been in the league or since I’ve been watching the sport. This is insane. So yeah, every other team might get confidence and say fuck it, I’ll trade a few of my top players if this ain’t working.”
