LeBron James' reaction on X to reports of Doncic transfer: “You a fkn lie”
LeBron has shot down reports he was the instigator of Anthony Davis being traded to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Doncic.

The NBA, and indeed the world of sports in general, is in a state of shock after the Dallas Mavericks agreed to trade star man Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in exchange for Anthony Davis. The Mavs will also get Max Christie as part of the deal, with Maxi Kleber and Markieff Morris joining the Slovenian in LA.
The transfer will see two of the greatest players of their respective generations, LeBron James and Doncic, team up, albeit not for long, with the former having celebrated his 40th birthday in December. The guard’s switch from Texas to California, however, should ensure the Lakers are set for life after LeBron.

25-year-old Doncic, who is already a five-time NBA All-Star, will hope the move can enable him to win his first ever NBA championship ring. James has four, although only one since moving to Los Angeles.
LeBron and Davis split after demanding Lakers action
Only a few days ago, both James and Davis, who has now moved to the Mavericks, had demanded action from the Lakers as they hoped to win another NBA championship together.
Davis had called for the franchise to recruit another center to play alongside him, but he is ultimately the man they have decided they can improve without.
James strongly denies Anthony Davis trade claims
After news of the Doncic-Davis trade became public knowledge, it was claimed by CBS Sports’ NBA insider Bill Reiter that James “had grown frustrated” with Davis and didn’t think their Lakers link-up was working, speculating that was due to LeBron’s “high expectations”.

Reiter goes on to say the trade “doesn’t happen without his absolute blessing and approval,” which didn’t appear to go down especially well with the man himself.
James reposted a CBS Sports video of Reiter’s report on X along with the caption “You a fkn lie!!!” as well as lying face and clown emojis for good measure.
The Mavericks are reported to have instigated the trade, which the Lakers presumably viewed as one that was too good to turn down. All eyes will now be on Los Angeles and the James-Doncic connection, which the franchise will hope helps LeBron forget all about Davis, even if he didn’t force him out the door.
