Update:

The Basketball Hall of Fame inductees for 2025 were announced on Saturday, revealing the next group of legends to be honoured in Springfield, Massachusetts.

Carmelo Anthony and Dwight Howard will enter twice, both as individuals and as member of the US men’s basketball team that won gold at the 2008 Olympic Games. That team also includes LeBron James and Chris Paul, two currently active NBA players.

This year’s class includes five players, a referee, a team, a coach and an executive. Here’s a look at the full list...

Earlier this week we reported that Carmelo Anthony was set to be inducted into the Hall of Fame. The ten-time NBA All-Star is tenth in the all-time NBA scoring charts and he revealed that he has been waiting for the news.

“When the call comes and, in my case, I saw Springfield on the phone,” Anthony explained. “You know what time it is [when] Springfield is on the phone. You know who it is. You get the phone call, and you hear, ’You’re in.’ And I think for me, it was a burden off of my shoulders.”

The Olympic team’s induction means that Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, Jason Kidd and Kobe Bryant each get their second nods for the Hall of Fame, while James and Paul will almost certainly be added as individuals as soon as they retire. Also included in that US team are Michael Redd, Deron Williams, Tayshaun Prince and Carlos Boozer, all of whom enter for the first time.

WNBA legends Sue Bird, Maya Moore and Sylvia Fowles join the Hall of Fame. Speaking after the inductees were announced, Fowles said: “I don’t think [any]one of us go into this thinking that we’re going to be Hall of Famers. You just do your job ... and when it’s all said and done, the job is complete and here we are.”
