Update:

Steph Curry has been dealing with a thumb issue for the past few months, and after the 103-86 defeat of the Portland Trail Blazers, he opened up to reporters after feeling what he called "an aggravation“.

After banging the thumb on his shooting hand, the Golden State Warriors legend momentarily left the court with 1:59 remaining in the first quarter, only to return with his hand taped up, sparking rumours about a possible relapse.

“From what I know, just an aggravation”, he replied when asked about the bandage. “The same thing [as the earlier thumb injury], but hopefully it wasn’t anything serious.“

‘It hurts right now; it was freshly ringing, new pain’

“I just know it hurts right now, but I’ll be all right. Because it was freshly ringing, new pain. But I don’t think it’ll last too long”, he added.

When asked about Sunday’s game, Curry was clear to point out that he didn’t want “to be too dramatic” about the stakes before adding “it should be like a Game 7 kind of vibe. You win and you control your destiny on a guaranteed playoffs series. If you lose, you roll the dice.” Pressure on, then.

Despite Curry’s calm, his teammate Draymond Green was a little more forthcoming: “[It will be] like a playoff game”, he was quick to say. “Super intense. Two teams fighting for their playoff lives. Expected to be a very physical, high intelligent, high level basketball game.”

Curry ended the game in Portland with a total of 14 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists across 27 minutes. He shot 6-for-14 overall admitting that the thumb injury did affect his shooting “a little bit”. The Warriors now have just a single game left in the regular season, a must-win matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers which will take place on Sunday.

On his availability for the game, Curry was incredibly positive: “I’m feeling great. I’m ready to play game 82 on Sunday. I’m excited about it... I’ll be alright.”
