The crazy trade package that saw Durant move to the Rockets
Kevin Durant has left the Phoenix Suns to join the Houston Rockets.

Kevin Durant has finally left the Phoenix Suns in a move that dragged out for a long time; as of next season, he will play for the Houston Rockets.
ESPN’s Shams Charania first reported that the deal was set to go through and the 36-year-old would leave the Arizona side after two seasons. Despite it being only a couple of years, it feels like another lifetime since the Nets took on Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson and four first-round picks for KD.
And now, in exchange for Durant, the Suns will receive both Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks, as well as the No. 10 pick in the 2025 draft and five second-round picks; it’s another bombshell deal in the Western Conference.
It was reported that as well as the Rockets, both the Timberwolves and the Heat were interested in acquiring the services of the All-Star.
Kevin Durant delivered a strong performance in the 2024–25 regular season: across 62 games, all of which he started, the Washington native averaged 26.6 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game, while shooting 52.7% from the field, 43.0% from three, and 83.9% from the free‑throw line.
Despite his sold numbers, the Phoenix Suns struggled all year round, finishing with a 36–46 record, missing out on the playoffs, and enduring a disappointing season that saw the dismissal of coach Mike Budenholzer.
