Shai Gilgeous-Alexander was the driving force behind the Thunder’s offense and was recognized for his stellar season with the 2024–25 regular season MVP award. He led Oklahoma City to a franchise-best 68 wins – the most in the league – and beat out Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokić and Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo in the voting. Gilgeous-Alexander received 71 of the 100 first-place votes, with Jokić earning the remaining 29.

The Canadian guard also led the league in scoring with 32.7 points per game, shooting 51.9% from the field, while averaging 6.4 assists, 5.0 rebounds and 1.7 steals.
In the decisive Game 7 of the Finals, Gilgeous-Alexander delivered a commanding performance, putting up 29 points, 12 assists, five rebounds, two blocks and a steal to secure the Thunder’s first championship.
